Orchestras and Wind Bands – Ages 8 – 18 years – Katherine Warington School (KWS), Harpenden 

Immerse yourself in our outstanding wind bands and orchestras enjoying a week of music from stage and screen.

Expert Guidance:
This summer, our dedicated team comprises professional musicians from the country’s top orchestras, ensembles and conservatoires. Students are placed in ensembles tailored to their age and ability, ensuring a challenging yet rewarding experience. The carefully selected repertoire is designed to push their boundaries and foster rapid growth. Each staff member holds an enhanced DBS check, is trained in safeguarding children, and includes fully trained first aiders ready to assist throughout the courses.This enriching week is suitable for students of all grades from grade 1 up to Grade 8 and diploma. Many Musicale Summer Holiday Alumni have gone on to attend prestigious music colleges across the country and have won renowned competitions like BBC Young Musician of the Year.

Beyond the Notes:

Experience a week filled with learning, socialising and performing! In addition to our musical offerings, each day features engaging non-musical activities designed to foster friendships and teamwork. Cue the bouncy castle obstacle course, treasure hunts, rounders, basketball, giant chess and ping pong…!

Grand Finale Concert:

The week concludes with an unforgettable concert on Friday at 3.30pm for the Juniors and 6:30pm for Intermediates and Seniors.

Students will perform a curated selection of the music they’ve mastered throughout the week. Parents, grandparents, friends, and supporters are warmly invited to join us for this special showcase!

  • Spare strings, rosin, valve oil, reeds, cello spike holders and any other accessories necessary for the full working of your instrument

Music stands and accessories are available from our Musicale shop until Saturday 19th July at 12.30pm. A small selection of accessories will be available to purchase on the course.

Please Note: This program is designed for children who already play an orchestral instrument. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate pianists on this course. We recommend that students have at least one year of instrumental lessons to fully enjoy the week. Individual lessons are not offered during this course.
